03/03:              Developer/Network Administrator

 

Developer for Ark Research's real time system, ARTS, a disk caching operating system written in C. Other duties included bringing up a Windows NT network from scratch and connecting it to the Internet.

 

10/94 to            AMDAHL CORPORATION

07/96:              Software Engineer

 

            Primary duty testing 6100 DASD controller microcode. Major contributor in getting Amdahl’s first Dual Copy microcode shipped, also tested ESCON support.

 

10/91 to            ANDOR SYSTEMS

10/94:              Software Engineer

 

            Developed XA I/O subsystem for Andor CPU.  Responsible for maintenance and support of EPIcode, a 370/microcode interface to provide XA features for the Andor CPU.  Performed system level testing, debugging and problem determination for Andor CXC, a virtual DASD controller designed to provide caching between a host computer and its existing DASD controllers.

 

03/90 to            STORAGETEK

10/91:              Senior Software Engineer

 

            Technical project leader for HSC 2.0 (Host Component for automated tape library).  Responsibilities include scheduling, code estimates, functional specifications, code definition and design.  Created process to migrate HSC 1.1 maintenance to HSC 1.2 before release.  Previously provided level III support for HSC 1.0.4 and 1.1.

 

11/83 to            VM/SYSTEMS GROUP

11/89:              Senior Product Developer

 

            Provide development level support for the Kolinar products.  These are XDEBUG, KPROBE and KUTILITIES (KFLIST, KRDRLIST, KPRTLIST, and KPUNLIST).  Conversion of Kolinar products to VM/XA SP.  Staff to the Vice President of R&D for XMENU and other projects as needed.

 

11/83 to            KOLINAR  (merged with VM/Systems Group July, 1988)

07/88:              Vice President, Software Development

 

            Primary responsibility was XDEBUG development and implementation.  Product is assembler language based and designed to help debug assembler language, COBOL and FORTRAN programs.  Secondary responsibilities included support of the KPROBE product.

11/83:              Senior Systems Programmer

 

            Responsible for local VM system maintenance for engineering data center.  (Environment was IBM 3083, 158, 148, two 4341's and Amdahl 470.)  Developed and coded local security mods.  Also provided off-site engineering support for 3380 beta test installation.

11/82:              Manager of IBM Products

 

            Responsibilities included management of project to develop electronic mail system under VM operating system.  Designed and coded system programs in Assembler and FORTRAN.  Intermodule communication was implemented with VMCF.

 

4/77 to             AMDAHL CORPORATION

11/81:              Systems Engineer and Staff Systems Programmer

 

            Duties included providing lead support for five large scale VM machines in the Corporate Computer Center, Software Development Center and Engineering Center.  Major projects included conversion of a VM/SEPP system with over one hundred eighty modifications to VM/SP.  The modifications included both internal and external enhancements and Amdahl program products in test. Designed and implemented a 15,000 line system (Session) to provide users with multiple logical terminals for each real terminal.  Developed support for remote 3270's on dedicated Binary Synchronous Communications (BSC) line for above system.  Provided highest level technical consulting to software development, field support, user community and operations.  Provided VM software technical support and assistance to customers and field system engineers.  Designed and developed a VM system debugging program (Analyze) still in extensive use today by Amdahl internal groups, Amdahl customers and many other VM sites.

            Job description was primary systems software consultant to the corporation.  Provided VM system programming for manufacturing.  Isolated and fixed VM system software failures.  Isolated system hardware failures for manufacturing and engineering.  Instrumental in bringing up the corporate data center.  Designed and developed standalone hardware diagnostic programs.
