The Web Surfers Report

January 6, 1996
Hello all,
I got up early (before noon) today to do a few web site related chores.
I'm working on a batch file to verify links in the HTML files. But NOOOOOO!
After connecting to my ISP to test my new creation, I discovered E-Mail
that requires my administrative attention.
I would like to join doorman in welcoming our latest websurfer subscriber.
Welcome Sean, your URL post is both concise and timely. Peter
"primenet.com canceled my account for spamming mailing lists" Quizert's "Are
You Preapred?" post about beating drug tests was a bit long and contained no
URL.
Timely in that 1) after the US presidential election, the Justice
Department may be suggesting that either Igor or myself seek his fortune in
a far away land. A job in the UK could be an option.
2) provides the excuse to ask yourself and the other websurfer subscribers
how they found and came to subscribe to this mailing list.
Previous answers to this question resulted in:
Top Ten web pages: You surfed into the The Web Surfers Report Home Page from
1) Webaholics Home Page v2.1
[http://www.ohiou.edu/~rbarrett/webaholics/ver2/] - and thought you'd use
this page to recover. (I hit this place last year. It has really changed.)
2) Anthony's most annoying of the web!
[http://www.cs.vassar.edu/~anschorr/annoying.html] - to test your threshold
of pain.
3) Useless WWW Pages [http://www.primus.com/staff/paulp/useless.html] -
because you know you can find a use for it.
4) Mirsky's Worst of the Web [http://mirsky.turnpike.net/wow/Worst.html] -
to laugh at a page worse than your own.
5) The Hall of Shame [http://www.meat.com/netscape_hos.html] - because you
couldn't believe there's a web page lynx can't display.
6) Hate Page of the Week [http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~efx/hpotw.html] -
because you love to hate.
7) Sickest Sites on the Web [http://www.io.com/~mindglue/disgust2.html] -
because tasteless just doesn't cut it anymore.
8) Dumbass of the Day [http://206.99.66.5/sage/dumbass/index.html] -
looking for a review of "Dumb and Dumber."
9) Warhol's Famous For 15 Minutes

to see the dirty pictures.
9 3/4) Mart's MetaPick [http://www.euro.net/5thworld/metapick/] - to see
who was stealing his fine URL's.
10) The Unusual or Deep Site of the Day
[http://vvv.com/adsint/freehand/deepsite/] - to see how deep a hole I'd dug
for myself.
Sean, I'd suggest adding Netscape Image Map support to the REED JOBNET web
page. It's compatible with the existing image map support and impresses the
Netscape 2.0 beta testers. After upgrading you Netscape 1.1 for Windows to
Netscape 2.0 beta 6 [ftp://ftp9.netscape.com/2.0beta6/windows/n16e20b6.exe],
check out my three stooges page
[http://www.byrum.org/3stooges/]. I also have "Where
can I post my URL's?" [http://www.bayarea.net/~arkres/wiltb/websurf/posturl.htm] a web
page you may find useful.
I just got some flash traffic from Igor that requires my attention. Hope
to see you Sunday.
URL: Web-a-Sketch! [http://www.digitalstuff.com/web-a-sketch/] - Fine art,
ASCII art, now Etch-a-Sketch art.
the.web.walker@pobox.com http://www.bayarea.net/~arkres/wiltb/websurf/
P.S.
If you response to the informal survey suggested above, include the URL
for your home page and I'll add it to the Web Surfers Report Home Page.
