August 21st - The story they won't tell you.

"I'm old. I'm Crippled. I'm mad as hell. Are these the only wheels I can keep?"

"Out of my cold dead fingers."

"Bill Lokyer is a Car Thief"

"Take our cars; We will take your pensions."

"Fire all the Liars"

"Stop the Eco-Gestapo."

"Smog II - you pay. Smog III - you walk."

"Mart Keller Quentin Kopp 'R' Lairs"

"C.A.R.B." (on red communist flag with hammer and sickle)

"Recall political corruption; This is not Arkansas."

"Stand up CA; or ; Bend over again and again and again."

KSFO built it and they came.

In cars, in buses, by rail and by foot they came. Now they wait in the morning dawn for the business at hand to begin. It's all new to most of them. Protesting isn't the usual provence of productive working men and women.

The wait isn't long. The production crew arrives and swings into action. It's like watching the State Fair, just down the road, being setup again. Poles and canvas are raised. Wires and cables running everywhere. As the final details come together the crowd continues to grow.

6AM, KSFO 560 AM is on the air live from the Capital steps in Sacramento and already over a thousand road warriors have arrived to ask, "Can you hear us now?" and let their views be known.

"I'm old. I'm Crippled. I'm mad as hell. Are these the only wheels I can keep?"
"Smog II - you pay. Smog III - you walk."
"Fire all the Liars"
"Stand up CA
or
Bend over again and again and again."
"Stop the Eco-Gestapo."

KSFO wasn't the only one on the air live that morning. While Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan warmed up the crowd, reporters from the local TV stations interviewed it. Enlightening questions like "Were you paid to come here?" flew over the air waves.

Where stand thousands, the mainstream media seems only to see hundreds.

After the return from each commercial break, the crowd shouts, "Can you hear us now?" Cyber-space provides support during the reframe by sending email to the Senators hiding in the capital building. By the end of the day, the senate email system will prove itself incapable of standing up to the onslaught of these cyber-voices.

As the chant of "Can you hear us now?" continues, the legislators, like the three little pigs, hide behind their doors and pray theirs is the house made of bricks and not sticks or straw.

Governor Pete Wilson, nowhere to be found, apparently made like the last little piggy and when wee, wee, wee all the way home.

In an unlikely display of intelligence from an otherwise brain dead trust, a few legislators come to the microphone and express their support of the rally and their opposition to Smog Check II.

Senator Quentin Kopp, in preparation for today's siege, stocked up on illogical clap trap yesterday at another of his "general public not welcome" press conferences. Explaining to the media lap dogs, that nothing was wrong with Smog Check II and he was going to fix it. "There are no provisions for confiscating cars in the current legislation." "I've introduced new legislation to remove the confiscation provision from the current legislation."

As the defenders of liberty, finish up the protest by sharing a few pieces of their minds with the truly needy members of the legislation still cowering in their house of lies.

"Out of my cold dead fingers."
"Mart Keller, Quentin Kopp 'R' Lairs"
"Bill Lokyer is a Car Thief"
"C.A.R.B." (on red communist flag with hammer and sickle)
"Take our cars
We will take your pensions."
"Recall political corruption.
This is not Arkansas."

Some staffers are shoved outside to spin the media while others work at hiding the Smog Check II program in other legislation such as "Recreation Fund for the State Slug."

Senator Kopp continues to tell the remaining reporters willing to listen that everyone in the state is misinformed except him and his bureaucrats. From the shadows, comes the mysterious sound, "Puka, Puka, Puka!"

From a second floor window of the capital building, an anonymous figure watches the last departing protester. The protester, sign slung over his shoulder like the rifle of a weary soldier returning home after a long but successful battle, crosses the now blocked off 10th street. The sign, it's crude hand painted letters still visible, reads, "Do you fear us now?"

"I'm old. I'm Crippled. I'm mad as hell. Are these the only wheels I can keep?"

"Out of my cold dead fingers."

"Bill Lokyer is a Car Thief"

"Take our cars; We will take your pensions."

"Fire all the Liars"

"Stop the Eco-Gestapo."
